Be a Counselor

Our counselors provide 24-hour child supervision at Camp Chanco. Counselors are set in groups of 3-6 and together they form a single campsite which is made up of 8-20 campers. Counselors work as a team to provide a safe, fun and comfortable environment for our campers. Counselors are responsible for getting their campers to each program activity from archery, to sailing, or to our ropes course. Counselors not only help facilitate but they also participate in each activity. Counselors are also responsible for creative development of camp activities and theme programs. Counselor salaries range from $1,000-1,700 for the summer.

Program Staff
Program staff are assigned based on talent and experience. We have positions for: Archery, Ropes Course, Arts and Crafts, Nature/Environment, lifeguards, Waterfront staff, sailing, canoeing instructors. Staff members are responsible for their own program area and the development and planning of the program itself. If you have special skills in any of these areas and like the idea of teaching then maybe a program staff position would be right for you. Program staff are paid based on experience and training but can expect to earn between $1,500-$3,500 per summer

Perks: You get paid to have fun! You don’t have to live at home with your parents for the summer. You get to swim, boat, go on a ropes course, eat great food and hang out with a bunch of kids. You get every other weekend off and 24 hours of your choosing off per two weeks. You get a really cool t-shirt. Program staff and directors can use their time at Chanco as an internship depending on their major and course work.
