How to Become a CPR

Chanco is always in need of more volunteers for this wonderful team. Make no mistake about the name of your job—CPR. Your help will “breathe the spirit” into our youngsters to participate in Camp Chanco. Your task is to spread the word of Chanco’s camp programs and thus cause more youth to become campers in our residential sessions and out trips. Chanco’s programs would likely not be thriving without this wonderful team! With gratitude to those who are willing to serve, the Board has approved a $200 Camp discount for you to use for your child or to give to another. Responsibilities of Chanco Parish Reps include, but are not limited to the following:

  • You will be responsible for contacting your parish priest or other staff member andscheduling a Chanco Open House. Ideally, this Open House will be held during the Sunday School hour to achieve maximum attendance and should be held sometime between January 15 and March 31st (later than this and many families have already made their summer plans). If absolutely necessary, an April or May open house could be held, though this is not ideal.
  • Prior to the Open House, you need to advertise your Camp Open House via your bulletin inserts, parish newsletter, and announcements. Talk with your rector to determine if there are any discretionary funds available to “raffle” money toward a tuition at your open house. If you are able to secure this, advertise that this will be offered.
  • At the Chanco Open house you will give a brief summary of what Camp Chanco offers and how it has affected your life. Feel free to enlist young or teenaged campers to share their experiences as well! There have been many wonderful ideas with camp games, camp food, slide shows, etc. which have made these informative sessions fun for all!
  • After the Open House, you should follow up with any interested persons who may have questions about camp. Talley Banazek, CPR Coordinator, will provide you with information for insertion in parish bulletins and newsletters periodically throughout the year.

Talley Banazek is the CPR Coordinator and she will provide you with all the material and resources that you need to hold a successful Open House and to keep your parish informed of all of Chanco’s happenings. Contact Talley at any time for more information or to sign up to become a Chanco Parish Rep! You can reach her at email her at talley@banazek.com. Thank you for your support of Chanco’s programs and your consideration of this wonderful ministry! The Chanco Parish Reps are truly the ambassadors of Chanco’s magic and CHANCO IS YOU!
