Fall youth events at Camp Chanco – fun, friends and faith in God’s great outdoors

Giving-2 Throughout the year, there are diocesan youth events at Chanco largely designed by youth for the youth.  The diocesan EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) board works together to develop themed weekends that are fun, inspiring and include fantastic large group, small group and worship experiences.  October Weekend with the theme “You Could Be A Hero” for grades 8-12 (October 7-9, 2016). Happening #65 for grades 10-12 (November 11-13, 2016) and November Weekend for grades 6-9 (November 18-20, 2016) are coming up and you won’t want to miss these incredible events of friendship, fellowship, faith and fun!

October Weekend is open to all youth in grades 8-12 and their adult advisors. This is an annual fall retreat designed by teens for teens. This year’s theme is “You Could Be A Hero” and the weekend will involve a variety of activities and opportunities to make new friends, including zip lines, small group conversations, music and singing, a dance and so much more! Youth will sleep in the chalets (screened cabins with bunk beds) and communal bath houses. Bring your own sleeping bag and linens! All meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday are included, as well as plenty of delicious snacks! This weekend provides a special oGiving-3pportunity to make connections to the wider Episcopal Church in a welcoming, positive, energe
tic and faith-filled environment and is a great opportunity to reunite with camp friends and/or make new ones! Click here for more information on October Weekend or to register now!

Happening is an experiential weekend retreat that has been occurring twice annually for decades in this diocese.  Many of the adult leaders of this weekend were Happened themselves as youth in the 80’s or 90’s.  A team of adults and youth who have been to Happening themselves work together to present a weekend that is designed for youth to experience what it means to be a cherished child of God.  The weekend consists of a series of talks, large and small group discussions, and incredible music and worship experiences.  Happening #65 will be held at Chanco November 11th -13th from 7 pm Friday until 6 pm on Sunday.  Youth will sleep in our Bill Taylor - Happening Eucharistconference center rooms with private bath and linens provided.  All meals are included.  The cost is $165 for the weekend and scholarships exist for those who the cost is prohibitive.  Do not miss this transformative experience at Chanco!

November Weekend is designed for our middle schoolers and is open to all youth in grades 6-9 and their adult advisors.  This weekend is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with your camp friends and/or make new ones!  November Weekend includes music, games, activities, socials, small group discussions and amazing worship.  It begins with check-in after dinner from 6-8 pm on Friday and concludes at 11 am on Sunday.  Our participants stay in conference center rooms with private bath and linens provided.  All meals Saturday and breakfast on Sunday is included as well as snacks throughout the weekend.  The cost is $120.00 and there are scholarships available if the cost is prohibitive.  Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to connect with middle school youth from all over our diocese! 15 Nov Wknd Amy 4
