Meeting Rooms and Conference Spaces
Chanco will provide one meeting space, appropriately sized for your group, complimentary with an overnight stay. Additional meeting spaces may be reserved for a nominal fee if available. Our dedicated staff will ensure that the room is set to your specifications prior to your arrival. You may choose from one of our standard set ups, or provide a diagram with further instruction.
Flournoy Hall is the primary meeting hall at Chanco on the James with a capacity to seat 100 guests in the main room. The meeting room is 30’ x 35’ and has held Clergy Conferences, staff trainings, talent shows, EYC events and much more. The smaller study is 24’ x 15’ and features a more intimate setting, complete with sofas and lounge chairs. It provides space for 20 guests and can be used as a staging area for your retreat team.
The River View and Pipsico Bay Rooms
Lodging Buildings C and D each contain a meeting space conveniently located within the building, overlooking the James River. The River Veiw Rooom, located in Building D measures 24’ x 48’ and has a guest capacity of 45. A fireplace adds to the comfort of this space. The Pipsico Bay Room in Building C has a 35 person capacity and measures 24’ x 34’. Each of these meeting spaces offers a kitchenette featuring a refrigerator, sink, and microwave.

A few other spaces are also available for your meeting needs:
Pavilion – At 50′ x 100′ with 300 guest capacity, this outdoor venue is the largest meeting area at Chanco
- Dining Hall – One side of our dining facility can be made available to host receptions or for additional meeting space
- The Bluff – This outdoor venue is the favorite campfire spot, featuring a great view of the James River
- Amphitheater – An outdoor venue with a great view of the beach
