April 14-17 is the Men’s Cursillo #159 and the candidates and team of the weekend will be spending four days together in large and small groups learning more about our Episcopal faith, discovering new ways to pray, deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ and spending time in worship, fun and fellowship together. Please keep these men in your prayers.
The Women’s Weekend Cursillo #160 is upcoming April 28-May 1, 2016 and there is still time to register for this incredible retreat. Cursillo is a four-day retreat designed to help us live our faith more intentionally, learn new tools to strengthen our skills as a servant leader in our parish and community, and is a fantastic way to connect with new friends from throughout our diocese who share our Christian faith.
Cursillistas, the Day of Deeper Understanding is May 7, 2016 from 12 – 4 pm at Chanco on the James. Join us in welcoming new Cursillistas with lunch, a witness talk, group reunion and more! Please bring your favorite spring dish to share!

The world is much larger than our backyard, or our home parish, and there is no better way to widen our circle of Christian community than through a Cursillo weekend. The weekends are filled with fantastic music, incredible worship experiences, talks by both clergy and lay persons, and large and small group discussions all in a community of faith. Many who have attended the same church for years have expressed feeling a deepening of friendship with one another as the result of experiencing Cursillo together. And many discover new faith-filled friendships from throughout the diocese.
Still not convinced? Listen to the voices of some who have attended Cursillo:
- “It was an incredibly powerful weekend. The Holy Spirit was definitely with us. There were many, many ‘God moments’. I owe a great debt of gratitude to those wonderful Brothers and Sisters in Christ who supported me by serving on team, and those who spent the weekend lifting us up in prayer. – Stew Wolfe, St. Luke’s, Powhatan, Rector Cursillo #152
- “I am in awe of how I feel about the weekend. Our church Cursillo team meets every Wednesday night for prayer. I plan to be there. A special thanks to each of you. You all have made an impact on my life. More than you will ever know. And for that, I thank you.” – Marsha Whitehead, Emmanuel, Franklin
- “I have always believed, and often forget, that if we quiet our minds and open our hearts, God will show us the way. That was true in spades this weekend, and I am finding it an exciting challenge to continue to assimilate that which we learned and experienced in my day-to-day life. I look forward to the next time I see each of you again. You are all so special to me.” – Kriston Feldpausch, Redeemer, Midlothian
- “The weekend was blessed from beginning to end. I was touched in too many ways to count. God is surely in that place. I am truly blessed and thankful.” – Laura Frank Sale, Eastern Shore Chapel, Virginia Beach
